Recently, I attended the Professional Association of International Innkeeper’s Conference and Trade Show in Little rock, Arkansas. It was a great opportunity to meet with over 500 Innkeeper’s from all over the United States and Canada.

Many of the presenter’s spoke about the recent trend of hotel guests that are becoming interested in trying the Bed and Breakfast experience as an alternative to a hotel stay while on a romantic week-end getaway.

This video is apart of a series of short videos that have been produced to help explain the difference.

Our guests are always amazed with our 2 course extended continental breakfasts..that includes fresh fruit and baked muffins, breads, and usually a tasty specialty dish….something with a New Orleans flavor…usually spicy or sweet….just like us!

If you watch Treme and love Elizabeth Ashley as the crazy Aunt…you will love this interview with her recently published in New Orleans Magazine.

“Are you waiting for Miss Ashley?” asked the maître d’ at Lüke. I said “yes,” and knew by a subtle change of the atmosphere that Elizabeth Ashley had arrived for our interview. She was led to where I sat – leaving a trail of quizzical diners who noticed that whoever she was, she was a presence. So a mojito for her, a vodka on the rocks with lemons for me, and we dived into the world of Ashley – actress for more than 55 years; author of Actress: Postcards from the Road, a memoir published in 1978 that happened to be a bestseller; a self-proclaimed gypsy and one-time “tabloid queen before there were tabloids.” It wasn’t hard to listen: Ashley’s voice should be trademarked – husky, dramatic and memorable, eminently quotable. Some early highlights: Read More—-

The Krewe du Vieux is a New Orleans Mardi Gras krewe that was originally known as the “Krewe du Vieux Carre” (“Vieux Carre” being another term for the city’s French Quarter, which translates to “Old Square”). It is one of the earliest parades of the New Orleans Carnival calendar and is noted for wild satire and adult themes, as well as for showcasing some of the best Brass and Jazz Bands in New Orleans.

A couple of weeks ago one of our repeat customers,Cathy H., a nurse from Durango, CO, whose son, Ian lives a few blocks from us here in New Orleans, called to ask if we wanted some Fresh Green Chiles from the Durango, CO-New Mexico area when she came for her vist with her son(She timed her visit with the FREE CLINIC at the Convention Center–to help those without health care!)

A few days later Cathy arrived with several pounds of fresh green Hatch chiles. Gil peeled them, de-seeded them, and roasted them ..and then the fun began….

WE searched for great Green Chile recipes to serve our guests for breakfast…One of our favorites is the photo above from a great blog with terrfic recipes, Kaylyn’s Kitchen

Also, we had another recipe that we finally decided to use called Green Chile Breakfast Puff
If you can find Green Hatch Chiles in your local grocery store, trying roasting the fresh ones. Otherwise, use the canned Hatch green chiles in the Mexican section of the store.

Green Chile Breakfast Puff
Ingredients:
5 eggs
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 cup cottage cheese
4 cups grated cheese- Jack & Colby
1/4 cup melted butter
4 oz green chills, chopped

• Preheat oven to 350°
• Beat eggs well.
• Mix, in flour, baking powder, salt, cottage cheese, melted butter, green chilis, and 2 cups of cheese.
• Pour into a greased 7″x9″ glass baking dish and sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
• Bake 30-45 minutes–allow casserole to rest for 20 minutes before serving

Yield:8 Servings

Green Chile Dip(Another favorite)
Ingredients:
5 eggs
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 cup cottage cheese
4 cups grated cheese- Jack & Colby
1/4 cup melted butter
4 oz green chills, chopped

• Preheat oven to 350°
• Beat eggs well.
• Mix, in flour, baking powder, salt, cottage cheese, melted butter, green chilis, and 2 cups of cheese.
• Pour into a greased 7″x9″ glass baking dish and sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
• Bake 30-45 minutes–allow casserole to rest for 20 minutes before serving

Yield:8 Servings

Needless to say, when we served our guests this spicy casserole for breakfast….they really enjoyed it….with cheese grits, and corn tortillas, and cilantro, garlic butter, and Homemade Buttermilk biscuits…And a nice serving of Fresh Fruit to cool things off to finish the meal!

–You don’t need exact change.
–You don’t need transfers.
